Oleksandra Oliinyk is a Ukrainian multilingual film and theatre actress whose passion for the arts has been evident from a young age.
Growing up, she immersed herself in dancing, playing the piano, acting, directing, and writing. Her journey into professional acting began the same year she entered the Kyiv National I.K. Karpenko-Kary University of Theatre, Cinema, and Television. Recognizing her talent, the renowned contemporary art center "DAKH" invited her to join their ensemble. By the end of her studies, she was performing in ten shows a month, often in leading roles.
One of her significant early roles was Agafia Tihonovna in "Marriage." This performance solidified her reputation as a powerful actress. Oleksandra was invited to become a member of the Academic Theatre of Drama and Comedy in Kyiv.
Her talent and dedication led to invitations to participate in international theatre projects, including collaborations in Wroclaw, Moscow (before 2014), New York, and Washington. She has performed at prestigious venues such as the Watermill Center, the Kennedy Center, and La MaMa Theatre.
Oleksandra's interest in acting for the camera developed later in her career. She pursued further studies in film acting at the Tisch School of the Arts, supported by a prestigious Fulbright scholarship. Her filmography includes roles in numerous films, short films, and TV shows.
In addition to her acting career, Oleksandra is dedicated to teaching and mentoring. She established the Actors Lab Ukraine(link), a creative space designed to share her knowledge and experience with aspiring actors. In Ukraine, she helped nurture a new generation of young actors who now feature on TV, theatre stages, and international film festivals.
On February 23, 2022, just hours before the war in Ukraine began, Oleksandra was passionately teaching a film acting class to teenage actors. The war prompted a significant change in her life, leading her to relocate to Berlin in May 2022.
Despite the challenges, she has been resilient, rebuilding her acting career and continuing her creative pursuits in her new home.
